The alien language of the connected consumer…

As we are all too aware, the convergence of technologies and the rise of the social media have meant that today’s consumers are more empowered and connected than ever before.  Now with a global ‘stage’ to share their opinions, insights, moans and groans with other like-minded folk, consumers have found their lost voice and the megaphone through which to shout their message or feelings about brands, the corporations that offer them, life and whatever is pre-occupying them that day.

The Diary of an Intern Week 9

This week, I was briefed by a Senior Planner to investigate the current market for contactless technology with the financial services industry. This involved researching how contactless technology worked? Who were and how many retail outlets/ merchants worldwide supported contactless payment cards and, assessing future trends in contactless technology’s performance and development.

When Shesays… Goes!

Last week in an industrial creative space, amongst the curry houses of Brick Lane, I was lucky enough to attend an awesome digital creative conference. The SheSays SCAMP 2011 – Mashup endeavoured to challenge what we think is meant by ‘digital’ today and definitely delivered on its ambition.

Have Check-ins Checked Out?

A study commissioned by the agency Beyond using data from 1,003 US consumers in April, reveals that 17% of the mobile population are using a social location-based app, such as Groupon or Foursquare. Concerns over an individual’s whereabouts, i.e. giving a burglar the perfect window of opportunity to rob ones’ home, and privacy were why 48% of mobile phone users don’t use such apps; whereas 50% don’t own Smartphones and of those 99% don’t consider status, e.g. Mayor or badges enough of an incentive to share their location.

What does Marketing Administration Involve? This week has proved to be surprisingly quite campaign wise. Since many of the deadlines the team had been working towards were successfully achieved last week. Therefore, my week has consisted of carrying out administrative tasks.
